PFA Announces Holding Series of Regional Franchise Shows

With the goal of helping its members expand in the regional areas as well as encourage region-based businesses to use franchising as a strategy for growth, the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) announces the holding of a string of franchise seminars and expos across the nation. After concentrating in Metro Manila for the first quarter, PFA is set to conduct at least two regional franchise seminars every quarter for the rest of the year.
For the second quarter, PFA is set to hold a franchise seminar in Roxas City on April and another one in Baguio this May.
Come April 19, 2013, PFA in partnership with the Joint Chambers of Commerce-Capiz will hold the 1st Western Visayas Franchise Seminar and Expo at the El Circulo Convention, Pueblo de Panay, Roxas City. The whole-day seminar will be two-pronged with the first part targeted for aspiring franchisees and the second part aimed at helping business owners grow their business via franchising.
The morning session is designed to introduce the fundamentals as well as the advantages of getting a franchise as a route to entrepreneurship. “Franchising is basically the duplication of a successful business,” explains Ms. Yvette Pardo-Orbeta, PFA president. “When you get a franchise, you virtually remove the trial-and-error phase associated in starting your own business. This is the reason why franchising has a very high success rate compared with traditional start ups.”
The afternoon session, meanwhile, will reveal the benefits of franchising as a strategy in growing one’s business by using other people’s time, resources and network. Seminar participants will be presented with information on why franchising has become the most favored strategy in expanding a business and how successful MSMEs can use the strategy to expand regionally, nationally and even globally.
A number of franchise brands – all PFA members – will present their franchise and investment packages to prospective franchisees. These are Bread and Butter, Crystal Clear, Xcess Salon, Fruit Magic, Julie’s Bakeshop, Magic Melt, Minute Burger, and Waffle Time. “We also would like to stress that PFA members adhere to the Fair Franchising Standards (FFS), which is a code of ethics that promotes fairness and transparency in all business dealing,” says Ms. Orbeta.
To enable MSMEs BPI Family Savings Bank, will present financing strategies to the seminar participants, while PLDT SME Nation will present technological tools to help MSMEs become more competitive.
The seminar is part of PFA’s advocacy to help aspiring franchisees invest in the right franchise wisely. It is also in support of a collaborative campaign by the government, namely the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine franchise sector together with the local chambers of commerce against the proliferation of franchise scams.
It also hopes to encourage region-based entrepreneurs to take the franchising route in reproducing their business without putting too much strain on their resources.
The seminar speakers are Mr. Roel Perez, VP for marketing of uFranchise, and Mr. Jerome Alvarez, Strategic Planning Consultant of Francorp Philippines. Mr. Perez will present an overview of the Philippine franchising sector and the doors of opportunities it is offering during the morning session, while Mr. Alvarez will conduct a seminar on How to Franchise Your Business during the afternoon session.
The seminar will be capped with a business matching session.
Seminar fee is Php 1,500 for those who will pay in advance and Php 1,800 for those who will register on-site. Lunch and snacks will be served.
