Launched in 1998, FEA encourages further development of franchise companies both domestic and international markets and actualizes the following objectives: to promote and sustain the growth of franchising as a tool for national development; to empower and professionalize homegrown franchises and top performing master franchises to be able to meet world-class standards; and to actively promote Filipino franchises internationally..
FEA will bring to limelight a new roster of elite and globally competitive franchises who will vie for the following categories: the Presidentâ€™s Award, the highest accolade bestowed to Philippine franchise companies which have become benchmarks in overseas expansion; Outstanding Filipino Franchise Award; Most Promising Filipino Franchise Award; International Master Franchise Award for international franchises; and the Best Overall Marketing Campaign Award for those that have successful and effective franchise marketing program. She also added that to make the FEA more responsive to the recent innovations in the marketplace, the awards in the food, retail and service sectors will now be classified according to the storeâ€™s business model, namely: Large Scale (Store size of 81sqm & above), Medium Scale (Store size of 16 sqm to 80 sqm) and Small Scale (Store size of 15 sqm & below).
With Isla Lipana & Co, the Philippine member firm of the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) global network as this yearâ€™s FEA chair, the nominees will be judged based on a carefully crafted set of criteria including growth performance indicators in expansion, sales and profitability, franchise, sales and marketing programs, excellent operation system, innovations implemented, corporate social responsibility, as well as ethical practices and reputation.
FEA is a joint partnership between the PFA, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), and the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA).

â€˘ The Presidentâ€™s Award is the highest accolade bestowed to Philippine franchise companies, which have become benchmarks in overseas expansion, proudly raising the Philippine flag in foreign shores.
â€˘The award is open to homegrown concepts, with a minimum of 5 years in franchise operations and with at least 2 years of international operations.
b.Outstanding Filipino Franchise Award (Food, Retail and Service: Large, Medium and Small Categories)
â€˘This award recognizes Filipino franchises that have become benchmarks in national market penetration through excellent franchise operations and good corporate governance.
â€˘The award is open to homegrown concepts, with a minimum of 5 years in franchise operations.
c.International Master Franchise Award (Food, Retail, Service and Kiosk Categories)
â€˘The award recognizes international franchises, which have become benchmarks in franchise operations, particularly in the sustained growth in sales, expansion and employment.
â€˘The award is open to international master franchises with a minimum of 5 years in franchise operations in the Philippines; and 5 years franchise operations in the country of origin with a stable, credible, and excellent reputation both here and abroad.
d.Most Promising Filipino Franchise Award (Food, Retail and Service: Large, Medium and Small Categories)
â€˘The award recognizes MSME Filipino franchises that have the potential to become a major player in the Philippine franchising sector.
â€˘The award is open to homegrown concepts with at least 3 years of business operations and 2 years of successful franchise operations, with an asset size of 3M and above.
e.Best Overall Marketing Campaign Award (Food, Retail and Service: Large, Medium and Small Categories)
â€˘This award recognizes franchise companies with a successful and effective marketing program that contributed significantly to the growth of the company and to the advancement of the franchising sector.
â€˘This award is open to homegrown and international franchise companies with a minimum of 3 years in franchise operations.
â€˘Entries must present product, brand, customer loyalty, franchisee recruitment and/or advocacy promotions that have been within the years 2010 to 2012.
a.Regional/ National Franchisee Award (NCR, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao).
â€˘This award recognizes franchisees who have epitomized success and growth in franchise operations.
â€˘The award is open to all franchisees with single or multiple outlets, with a minimum of 2 consecutive years of successful franchise operations.
â€˘The winner from this category will be chosen from the Regional Franchisee Awardees, who will be chosen from the following regions: NCR, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
b.International Franchisee Award
â€˘This award honors franchisees of overseas outlets, who have contributed significantly to the growth of the franchise company and in the promotion of its brand, thus helping raise awareness of Philippine brands in the international market.
a. Special Award for Franchisors: Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program.
â€˘This award recognizes outstanding sustainable developmental programs instituted by franchise companies that impact positively on Philippine society. Entries could be from any of the following areas: Consumer Protection, Employment Generation, Child and Youth Development, Women and Gender Development, Sports and Recreation, Arts and Culture, Health and Sanitation and others.
b. Special Citation: Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU)
â€˘This award recognizes the contributions of LGUs to the growth and development of Philippine franchising. It is given to a city/ municipality, that promotes investor-friendly governance, ease of doing business, and MSME support.
